Poppy still seems to be doing everything we want her to. Her internal clock is set pretty impressively too –
- at the ten minute mark (time off nest) she starts bolting food.
- At eleven minutes she starts pacing, trying to remember where she left the broody.
- At twelve minutes she’s going through the door, back onto the nest.
- At twelve and a half minutes she is shrieking at me, as I check that everything is tucked in properly.
The dust-batheing is getting a bit cursory, and she’s not been drinking a lot. But she has her three-part broody-poo, a couple of scritches, and a couple of flapping-shrieking-cackling bursts, to take the kinks out.
She is a lovely little nutter. And will probably kill me if I come near her chicks.
