Poppy brooding … part 1b

October 2, 2008 § 2 Comments

The eggs are on their way!

We decided to just get a dozen Dorking eggs, and all from Liselle again. She handed them over to the couriers this morning, and they are “currently in transit between our Dunedin and Christchurch depots”. So they should be here tomorrow morning. Yay!

Poppy seems to be sitting tight (which is where the phrase came from originally – see, this really is an informative website!), and had to be physically lifted off the nest to go and stretch her legs, drink, and poo. Funny girl, she shrieks at me when I first open the house, but then realizes who it is and bok-boks more normally. Well, normally for a broody hen. (They really do have their own range of characteristic noises …)
