Heading SouthEast for the … er, Spring

Yesterday we finished shifting the girls into their new quarters in the paddock. It had been planned to be their winter home – nice and sunny, with plenty of grass and stumps and things to explore. But life got in the way (as it does), and things got progressively more and more delayed. Not least by discovering that the previous owners had buried old building waste – we’re talking pink batts, gib board, nails, all kinds of horrible stuff – under what we thought were just heaps of mulched tree prunings. But we finally got the ground cleared enough, erected a brand new fence, and shifted house and girls yesterday.
The plan is to keep them there until around Christmas time – give the orchard a chance to recover before we build them a brand new permanent(ish – this is us, after all) house right in the middle – Cluckingham Palace!
